Custom Foiled Hat

A girl’s gotta LOVE a blingy baseball cap you can throw on anytime ✨ This foiled hat is seriously fun to make—and it’s easy to customize to your vibe.

Hat tip: I grabbed basic black hats on Amazon (they come in lots of colors), but you can totally up-cycle one you already have.

Next, pick your foil. This might be the hardest part because there are so many gorgeous options!

For this project, I used a turquoise hat with Leopard Teal/Blue Metallic Foil.

Step-by-step

1) Seal the fabric (both sides of the bill).

Brush Final Coat on the top and bottom of the bill. Let it dry completely (plan a few hours).

This step keeps the Foil Adhesive from soaking into the fabric so it stays nice and tacky—aka better transfer.

2) Apply Foil Adhesive (a little heavier than usual).

Once the Final Coat is dry, brush on a generous layer of Foil Adhesive. Let it dry 45–60 minutes until it reaches a sticky tack.

3) Transfer the foil.

Lay the foil on the tacky adhesive with the pretty side facing up. Scrub firmly with a super-stiff scrub brush.

Pro tip: scrub → lift to peek → lay back down → scrub again for the best coverage.

4) Repeat on the other side + protect it.

Foil both sides of the bill (you can even use two different foils). Then add 2 coats of Final Coat to protect the finish.

For extra protection so you can wash it, check out Plasti Dip Glossifier or Kiwi Boot Waterproofer.

Want extra bling? You can keep going! I added self-adhesive gems (scrapbooking aisle) and glued them on for a little extra sparkle.
