How to Crate a Foil Wrap Tumbler
1️⃣ Prep the Tumbler
Lightly sand the tumbler with 220-grit sandpaper to remove any protective coating, especially around the top and bottom edges. Wipe the surface clean with 91% isopropyl alcohol to remove dust and residue.
2️⃣ Apply the Base Coat
Apply a smooth coat of black Bondago paint and primer. A dark base helps the foil stand out and adhere properly. Allow the paint to dry for a few hours before moving to the next step.
3️⃣ Add Foil Adhesive
Brush on ArtsVille Embellishments Foil Adhesive in an even layer. The adhesive goes on milky white and dries clear. Let it dry until it reaches a firm tack — sticky but not wet.
4️⃣ Apply the Foil
Lay the foil over the tumbler with slight tension and smooth it onto the surface. Use a scrub brush to press the foil firmly onto the adhesive, then slowly peel back the carrier sheet to reveal the design.
5️⃣ Add Sparkle with Epoxy
Apply a coat of epoxy mixed with diamond dust while the tumbler spins on a turner. This creates shimmer beneath the transparent foil layer.
6️⃣ Layer Transparent Foil
Apply a second foil layer (such as Portia transparent foil) over the base foil to create depth and dimension. Press firmly and peel back the carrier sheet to reveal the layered effect.
7️⃣ Seal the Design
Finish with a final coat of epoxy to protect the design and create a smooth, high-gloss finish.
Glitter Option:
If you want to add glitter below the foil add the glitter in step 4. Then re-apply Foil Adhesive, allow to tack and apply foil.
