A girl's gotta LOVE a blingy baseball cap to throw on at any time! This custom foiled baseball hat was super fun to create and you can customize one to your taste and style!
Custom Foiled Baseball Hat
First, I found these hats on Amazon. You can find them HERE. There are so many colors to choose from, so you will definitely find one you like!
The next thing you will need to decide on is what foil color or pattern you want to use. This may be the hardest part, there are so many fabulous choices to choose from!
My project features a turquoise hat with the Leopard Teal/Blue Metallic Foil.
Let’s get started on the details!
First, you will apply a layer of Final Coat on the bill of the cap on both sides (top and bottom). This will take a few hours to dry, so be prepared to have some patience with this project or do a few at one time!
The final coat will help the Foil Adhesive from soaking into the fabric. We want our foil adhesive to be as sticky as possible for the best foil transfer.
Once the final coat is dry, you will apply a layer of foil adhesive. This is going to be a more generous coat than usual. Remember we are trying to get a really good sticky tack. Allow the Foil Adhesive to dry for about 45 minutes to an hour and then we will transfer our fabulous foils.
Now, let’s grab our foil...
Apply your foils over the tacky foil adhesive (remember the pretty side needs to be facing up). Then you will scrub the foil onto the surface. Make sure to use a super-stiff scrub brush for the best transfer. You might have to scrub a little, pull back the foil to peek, lay the foil back down and scrub again.
Make sure to do both sides of the bill of the cap. You can change things up and use two different foils for fun. Once you have transferred the foil to both sides, you will apply a couple of layers of the final coat to protect the surface.
If you would like to protect your hat so you can wash it, here are a few products to check out: Plas-Dip Glossifier or Kiwi Boot Waterproofer.
You can also continue to "bling" out your cap... I found some self-adhesive gems in the scrapbooking section and glued them onto my hat as well.
